i am just starting to reload my own ammo from my .223. i got a press and all of the supplies (including a reloading handbook) in the book it tells me what type of powder to use in the casing for a 55 grain bullet, it lists 5 different types that my local gun shop has in stock; IMR 4320, 4064, 3031, and 4198. Which one should i use? does it make a difference between these powders that i listed?Reloading .223 Questions? which kind of IMR powder to use?

Yes the powder can make a difference. It is one of the variables in loading. You should try different powders to see which one works best for your firearm. Keep in mind there are other variables that can make a difference as well - seating depth, case length, case type, primers, case preparation, bullet type/weight to name a few. I wish you well. I have enjoyed reloading for over 20 years and I continue to learn each year.
i use 19 gr. of imr 4198. with 55 gr sierra bullet. seems pretty accurate for me.
